The UKI mycotherapy practitioners register

The UKI Mycotherapy Practitioners Register was founded in 2020 and formed as a limited company in 2021, in response to the rising demand for medicinal mushrooms literacy across a variety of healthcare professions. 

Our members are all trained practitioners in one or more healthcare disciplines who use medicinal mushroom preparations and supplements within the scope of their regular healthcare practice. 

To join the register, our members must have completed our 3 part,100 hour CPD training course Exploring the Healing Potential of Medicinal Mushrooms, in addition to any qualifications / training requirements needed to legally and safely practice their primary healthcare discipline, in the country where they practice.  Full members are also required to undertake and document additional CPD each year, ensuring that they stay up to date in this rapidly advancing field.

Membership applications are stringently reviewed to ensure that, to the best of our ability, the UKIMPR is a reliable and useful information source for mycotherapy literate practitioners who can demonstrate professionalism in this specialism through their clinical practice.

Successful graduates are able to join the UKI Mycotherapy Practitioners Register, keeping them up to date on all things Medicinal Mushrooms, and enabling members of the public to find a mycotherapy literate practitioner where they live.

A few recent papers about medicinal mushrooms:

• Diabetes: How mushrooms may help. This review published in the Journal of Fungi reveals the many mechanisms by which medicinal mushrooms may lower blood glucose levels and could assist with the reversal of type II diabetes.
• Mushroom consumption was associated with a lower risk of total mortality in this nationally representative sample of US adults.
  
• Lion's mane mushroom, Hericium erinaceus may be a potential alternative medicine for the treatment of depression. This article critically reviews the current literature on the potential benefits of lion's mane as a treatment for depressive disorders.
